Dr. Purisimo "Puring" Lucas

 

Lita Malicsi

Lita is an English, Speech and Theatre Arts teacher and Theatre Director for the Minneapolis Schools. She received her B.S. in Education, Cum Laude, from the Centro Escolar University in Manila, where she obtained her Master of Arts Degree in English and Psychology. From the University of Minnesota, she obtained a Master of Arts Degree in English and Speech and Theatre Arts. Lita was a 3-term president of the Fil-Minnesotan Association. Under her direction, FMA has produced numerous artistic/cultural major stage productions for the Asian American and the larger Minnesota community. To date, Lita has directed 250-300 productions for the Metro Area communities. Lita Malicsi has been named 1996 Minnesota Teacher of the year, hosted by WCCO. In 1990, she was finalist for MN Teacher of the Year Award, and was one of 20 teachers named Teacher of Excellence in the State of Minnesota. A 1990 recipient of the Governor’s Award for her work in Education and Leadership in the community, Lita has served on the Advisory Board of numerous nonprofits including KTCA-TV, the Minnesota Humanities Commission, Minneapolis Arts Commission, Minnesota State Arts Board, Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, Board of Trustees of the Richfield Foundation, Roosevelt HS Foundation, Ordway Theater Advisory Council, Mu Performing Arts, the Univ. of Minnesota President’s Advisory Council. A lyricist at age 17, Lita wrote lyrics for the noted Filipino composer Lucio San Pedro. 

Lita is married for 45 years to Abe Malicsi, a retired Chemical engineer. Their son Allen is presently studying at the Univ. of Minnesota/St. Mary’s to obtain his Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership.
